An African dancer has beaten tough odds to become a rising star in the exclusive ballet world. Michaela DePrince has just performed her professional debut at South Africa’s biggest dance company. The inspiring teen survived a terrible war in Sierra Leone as a child, and went on to graduate from the prestigious Jacqueline Onassis School at the American Ballet Theater. She will also perform with the Dance Theatre of Harlem as she continues to pursue her dreams.
